For the second year running Endeavour MAT schools have scooped a top prize in the Kent Teacher of the Year Awards.  These prestigious awards acknowledge and celebrate those who are exceptional practitioners who go ‘above and beyond’ to ensure that our students are challenged and supported to get the very best from their time at school.  Please join me in congratulating Mr Sage, our Head of Year 7 who won Secondary School Teacher of the Year for the Dartford and Gravesham area.

Our Food Technology Department is comprised of a fully equipped food preparation area and self-contained classroom.  This flexibility of space allows classes to be split into two groups to complete either the practical or theory elements of the topic – they then swap for the following lesson.  This enables all students to continue with the full syllabus whilst adhering to our COVID policy.  In the below images, GCSE students are working on their food preparation skills as they master a range of different cuts of vegetables.

The Art Department is a hub of creativity and inspiration for our students.  The classroom layout has been remodelled and equipment allocated and cleaned to accommodate year group ‘bubbles’.  Pictured below our GCSE students arranging and mounting the work they completed during lockdown.  Once displayed, students will provide a ‘statement of intent’ to outline the thought process and ambition of the piece.

Our Art Department is encouraging all students across the school to get involved with Inktober.  Inktober is a month-long challenge that is focused on improving skill and developing positive drawing habits.  Each day (or week!), participants create a drawing, using the words below as inspiration and post it online or pop it on a wall – the point is to share it!  For inspiration or to post your work online, visit the Art Department Instagram page wgsb_art
